Have you ever struggled with what to pray for? This happens sometimes to me as I begin to pray, I seem to come to a point where I don’t know what to say or what to ask for anymore. It can be frustrating sometimes but we have to remember that God knows we struggle in our weakness. He knows that we will struggle with what to pray for, he knows we won’t always be able know what is best and so many times we are struggling with decisions that can change the course of our life and we just don’t know what to do.
Romans 8:26,27
(26) In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
(27) And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.
So the next time you are struggling with what to pray for, just let the Holy Spirit intercede for you. As we can see from the above verses, we do not know what we ought to pray for. So we must take our concerns and our struggles to the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to intercede for us. When we do this the Spirit searches our heart and even groans for us in ways we can’t understand. I especially like the fact that the Spirit intercedes for us in accordance with God’s will. So actually it’s not a bad thing for us when we don’t know what to pray for.
The next time this happens to you, take comfort in knowing that the Spirit will help you with the decision you face and even more importantly you can trust that when the Spirit prays for you it will always be in accordance with God’s will.
